Upload your first building - Revit
1. Create your first project in Finch
Navigate to the
Projects
page on the web-app and selectCreate New
. Give your project a name, and hitOK
.
2. Load the project into Revit
Switch over to Revit and open the Finch plug-in, and select your new project and variant from the drop-down menus under the
Project
tab.
You can only upload a Revit mass to an empty Finch variant.
3. Create a building mass
Create a Revit mass
4. Add a centerline
Under the
Architecture
tab, selectModel Line
.Draw a centerline across the length of the building, hit
Modify
to close it.In the Model Line
Properties
panel, change theLine Style
toCenterline
and hitApply
.
A centerline is required for Generating a Floor Plate
from an empty building without existing circulation. If you have a pre-defined core that you will draw inside of Finch, there is no need to upload a centerline.
5. Add stairwell attractors (optional)
In the Finch plug-in, select
Add Stairwell Attractor Point
and place the geometry on the floor plan where you would like the cores to generate.
You only need one point per facade, and be sure that the point is inside of the facade wall. (If your exterior wall thickness will be 400 mm, place your points at least 500 mm interior offset from the facade).
When generating a floor plate, slide the Stairwell Position
weight fully to the right to prioritize it.
6. Upload
In the Finch plug-in, select
Massing
andUpload Massing
.The plug-in will display
Uploading Mass Finished
once the mass has been uploaded.
